Short Description of Functionality
The two-dimensional finite element numerical model TELEMAC-2D can be used to simulate flow and transport processes in different free-surface flow problems. The following list of physical processes are taken into account by TELEMAC-2D:
- shallow water equations
- local acceleration (inertia)
- advective acceleration
- Coriolis acceleration
- barotropic pressure gradient
- baroclinic pressure gradient (depth integrated)
- atmospheric pressure gradient
- turbulent diffusion and dispersion
- bottom friction
- wind friction
Turbulence can be optionally calculated using a K-Epsilon turbulence model.
- advection-diffusion equation
- Boussinesq-equation
With the aid of the numerical model TELEMAC-2D the following physical quantities can be calculated:
- depth-averaged scalar velocity
- depth-averaged velocity in x-direction
- depth-averaged velocity in y-direction
- surface wave celerity C
- water depth
- free surface elevation
- bathymetric depth (bottom)
- Froude number
- Courant number
- depth-averaged scalar flowrate
- depth-averaged flowrate in x-direction
- depth-averaged flowrate in y-direction
- depth-averaged tracer concentration
- depth-averaged turbulent kinetic energy
- depth-averaged turbulent dissipation
- depth-averaged turbulent viscosity
TELEMAC-2D has been developed from Laboratoire d'Hydraulique der EDF-DER (Chatou, Paris). A comprehensive description of the system is available in "TELEMAC-2D Modelling System - Users Manual".
