Tidal Characteristic Numbers of Potential Energy Anomaly

Motivation
The calculation as well as the graphic visualization of various tidal characteristic numbers of potential energy anomaly (PEA) contributes to an improved understanding of the vertical density stratification in areas like coastal seas and estuaries.
Automatic analyses for all of the above mentioned tidal characteristic numbers of PEA are carried out for 2D-data by the programs NCANALYSE (mode TDKS).

Mean PEA Flood Current
Mean value of PEA during the flood current duration of a tide.
Maximum PEA Flood Current
Maximum value of PEA during the flood current duration of a tide.
Minimum PEA Flood Current
Minimum value of PEA during the flood current duration of a tide.
Ebb Current
Mean PEA Ebb Current
Mean value of PEA during the ebb current duration of a tide.
Maximum PEA Ebb Current
Maximum value of PEA during the ebb current duration of a tide.
Minimum PEA Ebb Current
Minimum value of PEA during the ebb current duration of a tide.
Tidal Cycle (between two subsequent ebb slacks)
Mean PEA
average value of PEA during a complete tidal cycle (period between two subsequent slack water times of ebb current).
Maximum PEA
maximum value of PEA during a complete tidal cycle (period between two subsequent slack water times of ebb current).
Minimum PEA
minimum value of PEA during a complete tidal cycle (period between two subsequent slack water times of ebb current).
Tidal Variation of PEA
difference between the extreme values of PEA during a complete tidal cycle (period between two subsequent slack water times of ebb current).
Quantiles
For all quantities mentioned above also quantiles can be optionally computed.
