Example: Advective Ebb Transport of Salt in the Inner Außenweser
From BAWiki
Isosurfaces of equal advective ebb transport of salt are shown for a period comprising several tidal cycles (mean value within the period of data analysis). Arrows are superpositioned. They indicate the mean direction of ebb current induced transport. The largest salt volumes are transported in the deep channels of the Außenweser (see bathymetry). This effect is due to the combination of high salinity, strong currents and great water depths. In general the transported salt volume reaches its smallest values in the innermost areas of the estuary and increases in general towards the sea. This is in accordance with the increase of the mean salinity towards the North Sea.
