Significance of the File
contains a list of soil types together with the associated soil parameters; especially it can be used to define a sediment classification, e.g. the Udden-Wentworth-Scale.
File-Contents (in Catchwords)
- class name (e.g. fine sand) of the soil to which a number of physically meaningful soil parameters is attached; please observe that
- the class name must be unique.
- material identification number for the soil type; please pay attention that
- this number must be unique, similar to the class name above.
- code of a physical parameter associated with the soil type as well as its value; please consider the following:
- for each soil type specified an arbitrary number of physical parameters can be chosen to describe soil qualities;
- within one type of soil each parameter may not occur more than once;
- the number of parameters associated with a soil type can vary form soil type to soil type;
- if this file is used to describe a sediment classification, grain size (code = 626) as well as grain density (code = 1136) must be prescribed.
Notice: valid code numbers for the physical parameters can be found in the configuration file $PROGHOME/cfg/phydef.cfg.de.dat.
An arbitrary number of soil types can be difined within a single file.
Notice: dictionary-file soil_untrim_dico.dat, normally present in directory $PROGHOME/dic/, will be automatically read by the application program in addition to the user-specified input file.
Programs using this Type of File
TELEMAC-2D, [SEDIMORPH], TRIM-2D, UNS, UNTRIM, UNTRIM2, UNTRIM2007
Example-File
please refer to $PROGHOME/examples/soil/soil.dat; if a sediment classification is described please refer to $PROGHOME/examples/lib/io_sediment/sediment_test_input.dat.
