River bottom balance

Definition
Dynamically stable condition of a loose gravel bed, due to a well-adjusted sediment balance (sediment transport, abrasion and sanding equal sediment removal). This may cause temporary local shifts in bottom hight with long-term fluctuations around a mean value.
