Definition

Surge wave triggered by a moving ship running ahead of the ship with waves propagation speed clearly pronounced in narrow cross-sections such as channels (seam wave, Soliton / wave package), while diverging in broader, inhomogeneous waterways among others by wave forming processes; A steep progressive wave (sharp increase or decrease in water depth) in an open channel, due to a sudden change in the flow process.
