Definition

Long gravity wave in a channel-like sea area, which is modified by influence of the Earth's rotation. It runs counterclockwise on the Northern Hemisphere, its amplitude is largest on the coast and it decreases exponentially with distance from the edge. Tidal waves or sea surface heights induced by low pressure-systems are celvin waves.
