Definition
Serves as a navigation aid for shipping. Anchored special vessel as a beacon; anchored unmanned ship-shaped floating structure as a carrier of a beacon. In addition to the technical beacon equipment the lightship is carrying further traffic engineering facilities such as fog sound device, radar transponder.
