Definition
Dam, which is to influence the flow of a watercourse; dam or wall (sheet piling, pile wall and the like) as longitudinal structure that shall influence the flow of a watercourse. Examples: jetty, Kugelbake in the outer Elbe at Cuxhaven, jetty Robbenplate in the Outer Weser. Training dykes are not to be confused with "dams in the mud", as the dams on the North Frisian Islands and Hallingen.
