This figure shows the maximum rise velocity within the [[period of data analysis]] in the Ems [[Estuary]] calculated for the scenario of a [[Example:Period of Data Analysis|synthetic storm surge]].

The maximum rise velocity for the [[water surface]] is calculated from the variations of [[water level]] within a given time span (typically half an hour) and extrapolated to a one hour period. A general increase can be observed from the North Sea (top left) towards the Dollart bay (bottom right). The velocities vary from approximately 1 m/h to 2 m/h. They are significantly higher compared with the calculated [[Example: Maximum Fall Velocity in the Ems Estuary|maximum fall velocities]].
