Definition
A well-founded tool for diagnosis and action. It's a parameter or a characteristic value derived from parameters, which describes the state or the dynamics of a phenomenon, a system or system component. The importance of the characteristic value does not match that of the parameter. Often the term indicator is used in a broader sense as a collective term for parameters, indicators and indices.
