Definition
Local radio system for the bidirectional transmission of data for distress, urgency and safety messages of the participating seagoing vessels as part of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and for pre-programmed frequency channel management commands from shore to ship for AIS by means of Digital Selective Calling (DSC) method on the international VHF marine channel 70.
