Definition
Method for the derivation of local or regional information from large-scale models or data (z. B. global models). Two main approaches can be distinguished: a) the dynamic downscaling uses regional climate models, b) the statistical (or empirical) downscaling uses statistical relationships that link the large-scale atmospheric variables with local / regional climate variables.
