Significance of the File

Contains various input steering data for the postprocessor UNS.

File-Contents (in Catchwords)

Contains various input steering data for the postprocessor UNS, which are required to use simulation package SEDIMORPH independent of a hydrodynamic numerical model.

  • general steering data (block Program_Parameters)
    • Key "Simulation_Period" : simulation period:
      • start of simulation period,
      • end of simulation period, and
      • timestep for simulation (relevant for SediMorph).
    • Key "Data_Input_Period" : period for input data read from file (data read period):
      • start of read period, and
      • end of read period.
Notice: In case the data read period is shorter than the simulation period, the input data will be read again from the beginning of the data read period after the end of the data read period has been reached. If the length of the simulation period amounts to N times the data read period, the input data are going to be read N times in sequence.
    • Key "Data_Reference_Date" : reference date. This date must be always specified in case the input data used, e. g. water level or current velocity, do not contain absolute date and time (e. g. time is given in seconds). This will be typically the case for filetype selafin.
  • steering data for simulation packages (block Package_Steering_Files).
    • Key "SediMorph_Steering_File" : name of steering file for the SediMorph package (filetype sedimorph.dat)
  • files with different input data (block Input_Files).
    • Key "Input_Water_Level_File" : file with synoptic water level data.
    (filetype dirz.bin, dirz.bin.i, dirz.bin.r; or selafin; or ipds.dat)
Notice: data which depend on morphodynamic bathymetry are currently not supported.
    • Key "Input_Velocity_File" : file with synoptic current velocity data.
    (filetype dirz.bin, dirz.bin.i, dirz.bin.r; or selafin; or ipds.dat)
Notice: data which depend on morphodynamic bathymetry are currently not supported. In addition, only depth averaged current velocity data may be used with the current version.
    • Key "Input_Hydro_Grid_File" : grid where water level as well as current velocity data are prescribed.
    (filetype untrim_grid.dat or selafin)

dictionary-file uns_dico.dat, normally present in directory $PROGHOME/dic/, will be automatically read by the application program in addition to the user-specified input file.
