NCPLOT: Types of vector symbols

From BAWiki

This page shows examples of vector symbolization offered by the program NCPLOT.
The vector symbol is specified in a Vector_Representation block in the control file NCPLOT.DAT.
The basic type of the vector symbol is fixed there on the Key Vector_Symbol_Style.
The shape of the arrows can be varied by additional KEYs.

Vector symbols

only_a_line

"only_a_line", constant "only_a_line", proportional
Lines of constant length pointing in flow direction and overlie the colored map of the magnitude of current velocity.
Color and length of the lines vary with the magnitude of current velocity.

simple_arrowL/F

"simple_arrowF", constant "simple_arrowL", proportional
Color of the arrows vary with the magnitude of current velocity.
Color and length of the arrows vary with the magnitude of current velocity.

triangle

"triangle", HOLLOW "triangle", OUTLINE
Contours of constant length overlie the colored map of the magnitude of current velocity.
Color of the triangles vary with the magnitude of current velocity.

arrow_deluxe

"arrow_deluxe", constant "arrow_deluxe", proportional
Color of the arrows vary with the magnitude of current velocity.
Contours of proportional arrows overlie the colored map of the magnitude of current velocity.
